What Are Faces
A Rubik's cube has 6 flat sides called faces. Each face gets one capital letter — together these six letters are the alphabet of every move you'll learn.
U = Up (top) · D = Down (bottom)
R = Right · L = Left
F = Front (toward you) · B = Back (away)
The letters describe a face's position relative to you — “Up” is whichever side points skyward as you hold the cube. (If you rotate the whole cube, the labels rotate with it.)
Mnemonic: U D R L F B = Up, Down, Right, Left, Front, Back. Tap Play tour to watch each face light up.
